This ancient city is located in southern Libya, 160 Kms southwest of Sabha. According to historians, the Germantes are the first inhabitants of the region(known today as Fezzan). They were a warrior nation, dealing with agriculture and breeding stocks.
The inhabitants engraved their history and recorded their wars and battles on the rocks. It is really a great civilization of two thousand years old.
Apollonia
A splendid city, located on the Mediterranean sea of about 20 Kms north of Cyrene. It is also known as Sousa and marked by ruins that go back to the Roman era. It served as a port for the city of Cyrene.
Apollonia has many significant monuments. The Greek theatre, the Roman baths, the Basilica Walls and the Byzantine Palace are among its highlights.
