Leptis Magna or Lobda is the most attractive archaeological sites on the Mediterranean. It is the oldest historical town in North Africa. It was founded by the Phoenicians in the 10th century B.C
It is located in Al-Khomas city of about 120 Km east of Tripoli.
The Hadrianic Baths are located east of the arch of Septimius Severus which is the first striking site from the entrance. The baths are fascinating and were built in123-127A.D. during the reign of Septimius Severus who was born in the city.
The Amphitheatre is a great monument. It has a diameter of 70 meters and faces to the northeast with a splendid view in all directions.
The Circus, about a kilometer away from the main site is a glorious one. It was one of the largest in the entire Roman world.
